Aurora: Behind the Scenes
Aurora was born from a simple constraint: we wanted to shoot only with available light, in real locations, with a small crew. No generators, no big lighting trucks—just the sun, the city, and a few carefully chosen moments.
That constraint forced us to plan around golden hour, overcast days, and the specific quality of light in each location. We shot over six days, often waiting for the right moment rather than forcing it. The result is a look that feels organic and slightly unpredictable—which suited the emotional tone of the piece.
In the grade, we pushed the shadows toward blue and kept highlights soft. We wanted it to feel like memory: a bit faded, a bit heightened. Sound design did a lot of the emotional work—ambient layers, subtle Foley, and a sparse score that left room for silence.
